BizMantra’s Involvement with Nepal Sports Council (NSC):

Nepal Sports Council (NSC) is an autonomous sports body under the ministry of Education and Sports. NSC has 4 departments and 54 affiliated associations. BizMantra is currently involved with Nepal Sports Council (NSC) in helping draw its Vision, Mission and Strategy.

After the popular mass uprising of April 2006, Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha was appointed the Member Secretary of Nepal Sports Council.

Having led the NSC in 1998, Mr. Shrestha felt the need to clarify and communicate the Vision of Nepali sports to the NSC stakeholders and the public at large. The first part is to draw a concrete Vision and Mission for NSC, which are not susceptible to the political winds. The second part is the restructuring of NSC in the context of the changed political scenario of the country. BizMantra has been retained to undertake the two part assignment in partnering with NSC.

A major milestone was the Half Day Strategy Session that took place on 25th September 2006. A total of around 25 people including coaches, directors of different departments and other individuals took part in the session that took place at Satdobato sports complex. The objective of this half day strategy session was to orient the participants on Vision and Mission, and the role they play in enhancing Team Spirit. Mr. Jayan Nyachyon and Mr. Umanga Pandey from BizMantra gave presentations which were facilitated by Mr. Suman Shakya, Mr. Trishakti Joshi and Mr. Roshan Maharjan.

BizMantra plans to conduct a longer session in the future where all the stakeholders’ views and expectations will be incorporated to draw a common Vision and Mission for Nepal Sports Council. It was clear that the participants list should include long term staff, line ministry representatives and the National Planning Commission. There is also the need for better logistical management and full participation of the Council members. BizMantra and NSC request all stakeholders to participate and share their experiences. You can email your views to BizMantra at bizmantra.np@gmail.com.

GTZ, BizMantra Joint interaction on SME Accounting Issues:

A Joint interact was conducted on 19th September 2006 at Yak Palace, Narayani Complex by GTZ and BizMantra. Mr. GB Banjara, Coordinator, GTZ, emphasized that strengths and weaknesses of an organization should be detected through financial analysis. A detailed analysis can be done if an accountant keeps track of the transactions.

Mr. Umanga Pandey, Lead Consultant, BizMantra, explained that the interaction program was conducted to discuss accounting issues faced by SMEs, and to introduce the thinking that is behind the design of BizMantra Accounting Process (BAP).

Mr. Sailesh Man Shrestha, ACCA, BizMantra partner explained how BAP is simpler and is SME friendlier than GAAP. He further outlined how BAP is different from GAAP.

Mr. GB Banjara facilitated on open discussion. In his closing remark, he reiterated that GTZ would play a linking-role between the members associated with GTZ and BizMantra. Mr. Banjara stressed that even though GTZ would not be funding the implementation of BAP, GTZ may support trainings and capacity building of accountants in their sub sectors if there is a demand by associations.
